The Data Collection and Analysis Unit is primarily responsible for the collection, processing, and analysis of birth and death data.  This unit also provides statistical reports based on vital records and other health status indicators derived from other public health data for Los Angeles County.

Notice of Certificate Availability

BIRTH CERTIFICATES
We maintain records of births for infants born in the County of Los Angeles* until the baby is one year old.  After the child's first year, the birth certificate can be obtained through the LAC Registrar-Recorder's Office.

DEATH CERTIFICATES
We maintain records of deaths for individuals who died in the County of Los Angeles* within one year of death. Once it passes one year period, the death certificate can be obtained through the LAC Registrar-Recorder's Office.
