Veterinary Student Externship

Our program provides an opportunity for veterinary students to explore a career in public health in the 21st century through its public health externship. The externship provides the individual with “hands on” experience working in a large metropolitan health department and experiencing some of the problems encountered.

Public health rotations are mainly for third and fourth year veterinary students who want to gain some experience working in a major metropolitan health department.

The veterinary student's school must also be on Los Angeles County's list of Partnering Universities. To review the list, go to Los Angeles County's Academic Intern page, scroll down and click on 'Partnering Universities.'

Public Health has made reasonable efforts to provide accurate translation. However, no computerized translation is perfect and is not intended to replace traditional translation methods. If questions arise concerning the accuracy of the information, please refer to the English edition of the website, which is the official version.
