What's New in CPSP

Zika Virus Update

Zika is a mosquito-borne virus. In Brazil, the site of a large ongoing Zika outbreak, there has been a substantial increase in the number of babies born with microcephaly (small head circumference). Please click here for important information for obstetric providers and pregnant women. 

Choose Health LA Moms

Choose LA Moms is a free, internet-based six-month program to help moms get to a healthier weight after having a baby. It encourages new moms to drink more water, walk, and breastfeed. Resources and referrals are available for participants. Refer your patients to: www.ChooseHealthLAMoms.com

Antepartum Visits Update

Effective for dates of service on or after January 1, 2016, the reimbursable number of antepartum visits for HCPCS code Z1034 is increasing from 8 to 13. See Medi-Cal Bulletin 495 and updated Summary of CPSP Medi-Cal Billing.

CPSP Provider Trainings LA County CPSP does not offer Provider Overview Trainings at this time. The State offers CPSP training at various locations throughout the year. For dates and locations and to register for State trainings, click here.

Pertussis (Whooping Cough)

Pertussis is on the rise. We strongly recommend that CPSP providers offer/refer pregnant patients for Tdap during 3rd trimester to protect newborns from pertussis. Visit CPSP website or to learn more about what your office can do to prevent pertussis.

Updated Influenza Toolkit

In December, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) updated its "Influenza Immunization during Pregnancy" toolkit. The toolkit includes the ACOG committee opinion on influenza vaccination during pregnancy, questions asked frequently by patients and obstetrician–gynecologists, and other resources for pregnant women and their providers.
