In December 2005, the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health
programs (MCAH) of the Department of Health Services launched
a campaign to promote the use of alternative transportation among
its staff. The “Go PUBLIC” campaign encourages employees to commute
to work, travel to a meeting, or go to lunch using public transportation,
car/vanpooling, walking, or biking. To further endorse the “Go
PUBLIC” campaign, MCAH developed the attached public transportation
toolkit. This toolkit can be modified to fit your organization's
need. The toolkit includes:
a public transportation flyer;
ideas that managers can use to encourage their staff to use
public transportation;
a list of frequent County destinations accessible by public
transportation; and
a factsheet on the connection between air pollution and health
in LA County
Remember, riding public transportation or using an alternative
form of transportation such as carpooling, biking, or walking
has many benefits: it improves your health because you are getting
more exercise, it contributes to reducing air pollution in LA
County, and it saves you money!
