Public Transportation

In December 2005, the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health programs (MCAH) of the Department of Health Services launched a campaign to promote the use of alternative transportation among its staff. The “Go PUBLIC” campaign encourages employees to commute to work, travel to a meeting, or go to lunch using public transportation, car/vanpooling, walking, or biking. To further endorse the “Go PUBLIC” campaign, MCAH developed the attached public transportation toolkit. This toolkit can be modified to fit your organization's need.  The toolkit includes:

  • a public transportation flyer;
  • ideas that managers can use to encourage their staff to use public transportation;
  • a list of frequent County destinations accessible by public transportation; and
  • a factsheet on the connection between air pollution and health in LA County
  • Remember, riding public transportation or using an alternative form of transportation such as carpooling, biking, or walking has many benefits: it improves your health because you are getting more exercise, it contributes to reducing air pollution in LA County, and it saves you money!
