The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Solid Waste Management Program, acting as the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA), will be holding a Public Informational Meeting for a proposed revision of an existing full solid waste facility permit. The LEA is certified by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to enforce state laws and regulations at solid waste facilities within its jurisdiction.

Description of Project: Universal Waste Systems (UWS), Inc. is an existing solid waste material recovery facility and transfer station located on a 3.81-acre in the City of Santa Fe Springs. The facility is proposing to add an easement (approximately 22,500 square foot) along the railroad right-of-way for transfer truck ingress and queuing.

LEA's Determination Pursuant to Title 27, California Code of Regulations (27CCR), Section 21650(a), the LEA determined that the application package met the requirements of 27 CCR, Section 21570(f) and accepted the application for filing on 7/30/2021.

Purpose of the Meeting: The Public Information Meeting is for any interested parties to learn more about the proposed revision permit and to provide comments to the LEA. The meeting is strictly informational, and no official decision will be made at the meeting regarding the formal determination on the solid waste facility permit application.
