The Division of HIV and STD Programs participated
in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s
(CDC) demonstration project titled, “Enhanced
Comprehensive HIV Prevention Planning (ECHPP) and
Implementation for Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA)
Most Affected by HIV/AIDS.” This demonstration
project took place through 2013 in response to the
release of the White House National HIV/AIDS Strategy.
The purpose of ECHPP was to
aid Health Departments to develop a plan that addresses
gaps and prevention strategies that have the biggest
impact on reducing HIV incidence and align their
prevention strategies with the National HIV/AIDS
Strategy goals:
Reduce new HIV infections
Link people with HIV to care and treatment and
improve health outcomes,
Reduce HIV-related health disparities, and
Achieve a more coordinated national response to the
HIV epidemic in the United States.
Los Angeles
County is one of the 12 jurisdictions participating in
this program.
