We are responsible for investigating environmental conditions at residential, commercial, industrial, educational, governmental, and health care facilities following recognized industry standards and scientific principles in order to protect the public from chemical, biological, and physical health hazards. The health hazards are usually associated with indoor and outdoor air pollution, molds, asbestos, bio-aerosols, industrial and household chemicals, dusts, gases, particulates, pesticides, vapors, and industrial and residential noise.
Program staff performs response duties related to environmental hazards exposure during emergency/disasters providing services in sampling, personnel protection, decontamination and clearance.
In addition, program staff provides technical consultation to Los Angeles County Planning in preventing health hazards by reviewing development projects requiring environmental impact reports.
