ABOUT US
The Food and Milk Program is a county-wide unit responsible for ensuring that wholesale and retail food facilities are in compliance with Federal, State, and local health and safety laws.
We are responsible for conducting foodborne illness investigations, responding to food product recalls and providing emergency response to possible contamination or adulteration of food. We conduct inspections of the following: wholesale food processing and manufacturing plants, caterers, food salvagers, food vehicles designed to service the motion picture industry and their associated commissaries, wholesale independent milk vehicles, food vending machines, employee cafeterias, food demonstrators, and custom slaughter facilities. Additionally, the program is responsible for the collection of soft serve product samples at all food facilities throughout the County of Los Angeles.
